I have a duel power head and one side is pushing and the other is sucking. So I pulled it and put in a used one I bought off here and it is sucking too. What's happening? Help please...

sometimes they start in the opposite direction. They run off an AC current so the switching may start on the wrong portion of cycle and cause it to go the wrong way. I have ONE koralia that does this and I just unplug it over and over again until it goes the right direction. Most companies add a directional "stop" in their design but some do not so hence, it can start the wrong way sometimes.

I have a couple that do this as well. I find if I stick something in it to stop it, it will then start spinning correctly and is good to go after that.  But be careful..

Sometimes you can stick your hand over the powerhead and disrupt the flow enough for them to start spinning in the right direction. Just cup your hand over the discharge side. Once they start spinning the right way you are usually good until you get a power failure of some kind. Then you will need to check again. You can tell if it is spinning backwards because you will probably get sand stirred up under powerhead location.
Make sure you post your best pictures every month in our POTM forum.

I just have to unplug and re-plug in mine a bunch when they do this.

Its broke and will never work again and it should probably be donated to me...I dont mind things that suck.

If you can clean the impeller I would do that, sometimes they get calcium build up that weights it just enough to start the wrong way.

LOL Bryce. Unplugging the Koralia powerhead a couple times fixed it! Thank you so much! The reef octopus duel power heads front cap won't stay tight cause one of the prongs are broken (only have had it a couple months, sheesh) so I can't get it to spin correctly. Is there a way to fix this or is it trash now? My yellow tang that was sucked by the octopus seems to be doing ok.
