I have a 90 gallon tank and was wondering if the included lighting which is mounted in the canopy (2 175w Metal Halide with 2 actinic fluorescent bulbs would be sufficient for growing corals in this tank?
Excellent thanks! How do you tell if the bulbs have worn out their useful life? I bought the setup used and the seller said that they were about 6 months old.
No matter what they said (unless they have receipts) I would change them. Halides are good for about 10-12 months depending on the quality. Florescent could mean different things. PC bulbs are good for a year. VHO (t-12) are good for 12-14 months. T-5 can be good for 18m depending on quality. Personally I always changed them at 11 months regardless of what they were. (I now run led's with vho supplement)
