Just a little reminder, to double check generators, heaters, backup batteries, etc....as it is supposed to get quite windy (+50-70 mph) and stormy throughout much of the State, late this evening.

Crossing fingers, power outages will be minimal!

I had a whole home hook up or manual transfer connection installed after last December. Gas, and oil stocked up just in case.

Man my plan of just daisy chaining together a bunch of 9 volt batteries and giving the kids straws to blow bubbles in the tank is sounding pretty pathetic right now...seriously I know I'm good on no flooding if power goes out but I need to invest in something to keep tank alive.

Ok guys charge up your cordless drills this can save you if you don't have a generator back up.  Just get beater or 2 from your mixer  your tank will be fine for days.  Well that still not help much with heat but it is a start. Wink

That is good for oxygen but dosing and heat you will need a generator. Manual transfer $600-$800 generator $500 I easily have that in one acro colony. I sleep better at night knowing all my fish will be safe. I lost 18 fish with no pump in 6-7 hours.

Went and  bought a UPS backup today and as it turns out the wiring in my apartment is faulty. Every plug I try is setting off the faulty wiring alarm. This sucks, all I want to use it for is one of the 2 return pumps on my RSM.... GRRRRRRRRRRR!

Battery back ups for our MP-60's and a dedicated generator for the tank- if and as needed.

I paid $35 off KSL for it today. It is small but all I want it for is 1 small RSM return pump. You can get bigger ones if needed. I had 6 of them on my 240 once and it ran for 6 hrs without power.

My power was out for three hours last night.  No real issues other than I had to stay up from midnight to 3am.

So here's a question, how do you keep the heat in the tank when the power goes out?
