Wow, all that amazing life photographed in just one trip?!! In two different pics I believe I can see the same anemone, but it's upside down. Why is that? More pics please.

Unfortunately I still haven't figured out why I can't use my computer to use the site. So, no more photos for now. Sorry. And as to why the are multiple shots of the same stuff from different angles, it's because I take about a bajillion shots of everything. I'm not the best photographer, so it's good practice. These photos are nothing compared to what others saw diving, but oh well. I did see a 300-500 lb black sea bass. He totally freaked me out, and the photos didn't turn out. Anyway, I'll post more when I get this login issue fixed.

The two pics from different angles clearly showed that the anemone had released and was flipped over hanging onto the rock with it's tentacles. I was just wondering why? Did you touch it to see how strongly it was hanging on? Not important, just curious.

Mark, I can assure you that the anemone did not release and flip over while I was photographing it. The photos are of the same anemones from different angles...and all shots were taken within seconds of each other. The anemone was not performing its Olympic gymnastics routine for me. I also never touch anything while diving/snorkeling; it's a strict rule of mine (except hacking away in self defense at kelp trying to drag me to the pits of hell.) The only thing I can figure is that you're confused because of the anemone's structure. I believe it's an Anthropleura sola anemone (or similar species), and their oral disk is rather enlarged compared to other anemones. Maybe that looks like the foot? I have no idea...but the anemone didn't move.

WOOO HOOO - looks like I finally have full access to the site again. I reset everything back to factory settings. Blech. Oh well. So here's me trying to dive again (so now you'll know what I look like for Thursday!) And yes, that's a 7mil Farmer John wetsuit (dual layer in the chest). I also had a hood and used waterproof reusable heat packs in my wetsuit...and was still cold. Guess I need to get my drysuit cert. ;-) Starfish dude...different one Thanksgiving dinner. The guys caught about 20 lobsters, so we ate well! The squid mated for a few hours under our boat one night...quite amazing to watch! They die shortly after mating, so the ocean floor was covered in carcasses the next morning.
