| Right now I just noticed under a rock there was a worm that was about 1 inch long and red in color. |
As the others have suggested it's likely a bristle worm/fire worm. About 98%+ of these worms are good news. However it is worth mentioning that every now and then an "evil" variation finds it's way into home aquaria.

If it's a good worm, it will basically scavenge for leftover food and decaying matter. Keep in mind that a dying animal, even if it looks healthy, counts as decaying matter.

And with a chunk of brine shrimp wrapped in a big wad of Bridal Veil material on a length of fishing line, it was the easiest thing I ever caught out of a reef aquarium.
