I have noticed something  white, fungus looking, on the top edge of the dorsal fin of my yellow tang.  He is eating and acting OK.  I am a little familiar with ick, and I don't believe it to be ick.  Possible remedies.  I will probably have a hard time getting a quality picture, so I may not be a lot of help in describing better that I have.  Please help..

Head and lateral line erosion? Pictures might be the only way to diagnose.

does it look like little small white pom poms mainly on the fins? do you have a grounding probe?

Fungus can be helped by a Cleaner Shrimp and the Pimafix and Melafix products. I would also watch for signs of Ich which can arise because of the stress of the disease and the nature of the new tank. Coral are easier to keep than fish, especially in a new tank. Be patient and hold off on adding another fish for a month or so, but feel free to go crazy on Soft Coral and hardy LPS coral
