Topic: Chalice Show Off Thread Posted: January 02 2009 at 12:50pm |
I wanted to start one of these threads here.  Chalices have become one of my favorite corals.  There are so many different morphs, it just blows me away.  I wanted to see what people have here locally, so show them off!  Here are a few of mine. ÂÂ
No Name (yet)
LE Paradise
Blue Sherbert
LE Purple With Neon Yellow Eyes

Jared your chalices are gorgeous! Let me know when you frag them and I will try to get some from you.
I just got my first chalice about 2 weeks ago and absolutely love it. Mine is a bright red/orange. I am not sure how to tell if chalices are happy. I have moved it several times because of rearranging my tank. It still has it's color so I assume it is happy. I would take a pic but my camera sucks and I can't get good texture or color to show.

Jerry don't die holding your breath! My flake neighbor said he would be over but never showed up the other day. If you go to The Aquarium they have them there.

I also like chalices. I currently only have one, but if I ever get my Da** tank set up, i want more. Jared, how do you frag chalices anyways? The one I have has like 8 mouths on it now. ( I still need to come get my frag(s) from you but I havent got my system ready for it yet)

RockStarFish, This one looks real nice!  Do you have a name for it?  Kind of looks like the Tyree Aspera.  Have any frags you can part with?

I used to use a dremmel to frag chalices, but recently invested in a wet band saw with a diamond blade.  It rocks!  It is important to do an iodine dip after you frag to prevent any infection.

It is similar to the reverse watermelons, but it isn't one of the big named ones.  I actually got that piece from Bruce about 2 years ago.  I almost lost the colony a while back, but it has recovered nicely. ÂÂ
