Ok, so I've noticed that my tank is having issues with staying within a range that wont freak me out. I checked it at 6:30 last night and it was at 8.05, it was the same reading this morning at 6:30 am and I just checked it (12:27 ish) and it's still the same ph level. I use Kent Marine Superbuffer-dkh and Seachem Reef buffer. What could be the cause of this. I put in new servings of it every other day now.
I would be careful and test your alkalinity you don't want to go out of range trying to raise your ph. It could be your probe needs to be re calibrated. It could be just as simple as co2 in your home is high from being shut up because of the bad weather. I wouldn't worry about it personally.

ph swings throughout the day so it's something that's incredibly hard to use for an indicator.. As suggested, check your other params.. They actually affect your ph but in good ways if done right.
The only time monitoring PH came in handy was just recently. I had to reset my apex and my saved file didn't save correctly so I had to start from scratch. I have my ALK doser to turn off if PH>8.4 as a fail safe. Well programing my dosing pumps at 2 AM I forgot to program SET OFF so the first time it kicked on it never shut off until it was at 8.4 and I woke up 6 hours(or 396 ml) later saw my PH at 8.4 on the way to the kitchen and knew something was wrong! This was fixed with a quick 15 gallon water change and turning the dosers off for a day ALK fell back down to 8.5 and everything was good but I am sure it could have been a lot worse. Other than that I really don't watch my PH. If you open a window in your house all night it will increase your PH also.
