Topic: White spots on live rock- what are these? Posted: September 11 2008 at 3:43pm |
I'll do my best to describe them. They are small, white looking "balls" that seem to have a "funnel" coming out of the top of them. The "ball" part seems to be fuzzy even. I'm not sure but I think they move around as well. One day I see it/them in one place and the next day they are gone. Then I see them again somewhere else. I'm not sure if something is eating them and they grow again somewhere else or what. When I mean "small" I'd say about half the size of pencil eraser, possibly just a bit smaller even.
Did the best I could on the picture.

I love those little sponges! I cherish them when I find them! To think--scientists agree that sponges were the beginning of vertebrates. Ha ha

I always wondered what they were. I have a ton of them in my sump. They used to be in my tank, but something must have eaten them.
