Topic: Tfmreefs New tank! Posted: September 01 2012 at 5:47pm |
Hi, so i have never really posted anything about my tank and now that i am starting a new one, this may be a perfect time to start the posting. Just barely got a biocube 14 (Thanks Melissa!) and i am on my way home to go set it up. I am going to use same sand from my other tank, and some of it is going to be washed and the rest still living. I am going to use the same water from the other tank that got a water change yesterday, and some of the rock. I will tell more and post pics when i get home tonight. Super excited!

If you are interesting in saving a little money to replace having to buy those Biocube Filter Pads, I have a little 12 gal JBJ nano that I use for a small frag tank and I built a media rack to go into a back chamber out of that egg crate stuff that I used for my frag rack. I made it 3 levels and tie a bag of carbon in the lower level, added some chemipure elite that I tied in the 2nd level and on top filter floss which I change about every 3 days. I put a little egg crate top to go on top of the filter floss and used loose zip ties for the top so that I can lift the top up easily to replace the filter floss. It was really easy to make just using zip ties.

Oh one more thing, I just made it 3 sided. The media racks I found on the internet to buy for those small tanks are only 3 sided. The sideless portion faces the drain side of the tank.
