Picked this guy up at petco a month ago, in that short time we have become best buds. He is a character, Everytime I put a new shell in, he will switch into it almost immediately, if I throw in more than one he will try em all out and change every few days. He tends to like bright colored shells more than dark for soem reason.

He also loves to eat krill and I have taught him to take it right from my hand.

Just thought I would share my fun experience, Who would have thought a Hermit crab would be so cool.

The shell he is in in the pic is about two and a half inches....

Here is a pic of him cruising around his ten gallon tank for size comparison.

I'm very interested to see how it does for you.  I have a half dozen of them but I don't keep them in my reef tank.  I really want to, and may try it, but I've been scared to go down that road.

They are supposedly reef safe but they will probably knock many things over.

That is cool.  I think I am going to buy one to put in my nano.  I just have softys in it and I am not worried about it eating them.  I will let you guys know how it goes.  Also thinking of trying a chocolat chip star to see what it will and will not eat

The problem with big crabs like him is that the do know things over. That is the reason I dont have Turbo snails :)
