I have a asm-g2 skimmer with a sedra 3500 (no mods).  I am becoming very frustrated with it.  I have it adjusted so that it is the least restricted and should be skimming very dry yet it fills the cup in just a few minutes.  Any suggestions as to what I should do?

Thanks

Troy

i have had this in my sump for several months and have never had this problem.  i dont think the height of the water is the issue.

thanks

Have you added any red slime remover lately? Have you tried cleaning the skimmer pump and air intake, even the body?... cause if less air is going thru the pump then more water, so it pushes the water higher (found this out the other day lol)

My first question is does the cup fill with water or with foam?
"I have it adjusted so that it is the least restricted and should be skimming very dry..."
Please explain this statement a little better. I don't understand what you mean because that's not what I do to produce drier foam. I lower the outlet tube.
The venturi air intake can get clogged with Calcium deposits. I ream it out with a small diameter grabber screw. This allows the skimmer suck the right amount of air to produce the proper foam.
Smile Hope this helps.

Check the air intake....clean it out, make sure nothing is blocking the air...after that, look at your needle wheel.....see if you have some missing spokes, or how it looks....are you getting many bubbles?  I have the same skimmer, but with a mesh mod, and currently have it set to the bubbles breaking around the middle of the inner tube of the collection cup....I go about a week and it only fills maybe 1/4 - 1/2.....I never have to adjust the thing either...

Troy/Pam. I have dealt with GSM skimmer and the best thing to do is to do the gate way mod. This allow you to make very small adjustment to the water level more affectively. I had the issue on my skimmer and when I added the gateway it made my life a lot easier and the foam level was more stable.
