I ran across this article in the news today, about a teen whose lower legs and feet were swarmed and partially eaten by, of all things, amphipods:

Oh yeah, I believe it. There are amphipods that are quite large, up to like 6". I know a hobbyist that has to wear those long gloves all the time in their tank because they are susceptible to a tiny water flea that lives in reef aquariums
