I have one fan at the top of my hood pushing the hot air away 24/7.  It is setup on the far left side of the hood so it can draw in cool air from the room temperature and blow it across the top of my hood to the other side.

I have one fan running 24/7 directly on the water surface.  The other fan that I have running directly on the water surface only kicks on when my MH turn on.  These two fans are hitting the water at a 45 deg angle because that was the steepest grade I could get with the room I have to work with.

The actual room temperature usually runs about 72deg.

I don't have a problem with reducing my HM photo period.  I just figured the more the light the better growth from my corals.  No??

Well quick update, a couple of days have gone by and my tank has cooled down to what I think it will remain at.  Right now at night my temp is dropping to 74deg.  During the photo period with my MH turned on my temp goes up to 78 deg.  Thanks for all the advice!!  This fixed my issue.

Mike, (BTW It's Redrock, NOT Bedrock. But it made me chuckle)

Since you mentioned that I have done a bit of research into doing the earth cooling system. It is really pretty viable but there is quite a bit to it. Having said that I think it is a VERY good way to go. I would be willing to share all the info I have gathered on the subject if anyone is seriously interested.

As far as my idea of using the small refrigerator, forget it. it sounds reasonable but there is simply not enough cooling capacity in the small units and the heat transfer medium (PEX) is too inefficient to do any good with the limited amount of space.

Anyway, didn't mean to hijack this thread herefishy, I was just in a chatty mood.
