Over the past 4 months I've had a 5g tank with a kalk and vinegar mixture on a dosing pump. I've been very happy with the results.

However, due to the kalk buildup it has been almost impossible to keep a pump going for very long and then the kalk just settles.

I'm thinking of just putting in a 2 part solution(ESV or BRS) and a gallon vinegar jug. Then dosing them directly/individually.

Any thoughts, advantages of going this route or staying as I am?

I'd probably dose 40mL of Vinegar a day for a 60g tank. What are recommendations on quantity's with 2 part?

You don't want to dose the part of the kalk that settles anyways....you want to dose the clear liquid, the rest is the precepitation. I love my kalk and would never go back to just 2 part dosing.

What pumps ar you using? Is this for top off too? I use a tunze ato, and have had the same pump for 3 years and not an ounce of problems

On a 5 gallon tank I would imagine regular water changes with a good salt, would take care of addivtives. I am not familiar with vinegar dosing, so can't answer those

Sorry, didn't explain that well. I have a 60g. display tank. I then have a 5g tank for kalk/vinegar mixture that I then dose with a brs pump. Yes, I use it as part of my ato.

As it takes me weeks/months to dose the full 5g. I have a small pump in the mixture that is on a timer that occasionally comes on to stir the mixture. It is this pump that continually gets clogged/dies.
