I am new to Utah Reefs, I was referred here by Nick, he is a good buddy of mine. I just wanted to start out by saying hello and introducing myself, I am Jake and am 25 years old and fairly new to the hobby.
I took the cheap way in and the hardest way to start by buying a used 8 gal. nano from a buddy who upgraded. I have yet to come accross too many serious problems other than red slime from over feeding and some green algae that i havent figured out how to take care of yet.
Let me say I am completely addicted and have already filled my tank with corals and fish and want to upgrade already! 
I look forward to chatting with you all and learning as much as possible and I hope to one day be a valuable source of information. see ya on the boards!

As far as benefits goes, there are many! You get to belong to a truly awesome club with awesome members. A lot of the lfs (local fish stores) will give discounts for your being a member which will pay for itself right that as you are just starting out. There is an annual BBQ for members. There are many more, but that is for starters!
