I just ordered the family Christmas present from Bulk Reef Supply.  We wanted to have RO water to drink, ice cubes etc, and I wanted to stop using tap water for my top-offs to help reign in my tank and hopefully avoid cyano outbreaks.  I got their 5 stage that has an outlet prior to the DI stage that is intended to use for drinking.  I got their little "flush" kit as well as the electronic, 2 input TDS meter.  My Alk is 13 out of the tap right now, so this should make a difference.

And while I was there, getting free shipping, I couldn't help but throw some of the dry "live rock" in the cart.  Nothing agianst LBTR - but I'd spend more in gas going to get some than I spent on this, so... no guilt.  If I make the big tank switch it'll be worth a trip to the desert for sand and LBTR.

I shopped Air,Water,Ice but BRS seemed to be about the same and had their accessories easier to find.  I even looked at Lowes (spendy!) but I figure BRS is stable so I can continue to get media for maintenance in the future.

In case you didn't know (I don't advertise it Embarrassed), there is plenty of the best quality LBTR and Oolitic sand in Murray.Smile

Yeah - I was thinking of that when I made my "cost of driving" comment.  4 hours driving and $30 is gas as opposed to delivered to my door...  You can see the appeal.  I just don't find myself in the SLC area very much, especially not during the RSL offseason.

A long time ago I was talking to the guy who installed an RO unit in my parent's house. He recommended against using RO water for ice cubes because RO water can absorb the smells and tastes in the freezer.

I haven't verified this, but I thought I'd put it out there.
