I have been running a 30 gal tank with a ten gal homemade sump for a few months and have recently begun the process of upgrading to a bigger tank and had some questions.  I have already purchased an 80 gal glass tank from KSL.com.

1. What is the process for drilling a tank?

2. I read about sumps and refugiums...  I was going to try and combine them into one and use my 30 gal for the job...  any suggestions?

1. Take the tank to Marine Aquatics? They can drill it for you, you won't have to buy the bit.

2.  A few ideas :http://web.mac.com/suzynrob/iWeb/Site%2019/Sump%20Ideas.html

What are some of the things to watch out for when drilling a tank?

Hazards?
Cost?
Bottom or sides?
Kits?

Also what is a 'closed loop system'? and how is different from an open one?
