Were the drain goes into my refugium I alway get a lot of air bubles. This creates a tiny spray that splashes all around and gets on everything. What is the best way to direct the water so this doesnt occure ?

put a ball valve on your drain line and restrict it until your overflow suspends enough water in it to not let any air bubbles through the pipes

gate valves are great, but if you can live with a filter sock, so be it.

These are all solutions but what I am looking for if it is possible is a way to desing the pvc in a way that it reduceses the spray. If that is not possible I may need to install a gate valve because I dont have room for a sock

My drain has a 45 degree elbow at the end with the elbow just barely submerged.  This keeps it quiet and minimizes bubbles.  But I also use durso standpipes and dursos work by sucking in air so there will always be bubbles if you're using a durso.  I still get a lot of spray in this side of my sump caused by all those bubbles popping at the suface.  Not sure if there's a way around that.

I have two drains in most tanks. 1 to the filter sock the other into the refug. to feed it. The one to the refug. makes a turn when it enters the water and I grow the cheto around it. That acts like a natural cushion for the bubbles.

I found a similar solution as John and Dion with a curl of drain pipe at the bottom and Chaeto wrapped around it. Chaeto is an excellent bubble disperser. You are welcome to visit to see how it works.
