So I picked up a 120g tall from lil'man tonight as it has the same footprint as my 75g and I won't have to change the stand or canopy on my current set up just the tank itself.
What I am now wondering is if I still have enough light, I have a 400 w metal halide and the 120g tall is 31" tall. I think it still should be good but what do all of you think?

I think there should be a contest for frequency of tank upgrades. You got my vote Jackie. How many tanks does this one make?

I think you'll be fine...in fact I think you may like it better....you can have your strong light corals middle to high and be able to keep those low light softies, lps, down low with no problems at all....those corals may thank you with the taller tank.....

However....you're armpit will now hate you...Wink

Ha ha yes I trade tanks. The only reason I got this is it is the same foot print as my 75 and can go on the existing stand and what not. I think the only thing I will need is a bigger Skimmer. And who can pass up $30!! Not me;)

I got a 120g that is the same footprint as my 75g so it can just swap out with it:)

I have 2 x 400W over my 31" deep 150g tank...and it's a bit much.  We are hitting about 500 PAR in some spots on the sandbed!  I've had a hard time finding good places for my LPS.

Is there a PAR meter floating around in the club?  I'd try using your existing lighting...measure it...and go from there.

I don't think there is. I think I will be just fine, I have mostly softies and LPS with just a couple SPS that I will put higher:)
Thanks everyone!
