Just finished this commercial sand reactor and thought I would share a picture. It was a cool project to do and its MASSIVE. 12" diameter 1/4" wall cast acrylic tube, thermoformed cone shaped bottom and it stands 6 foot tall.Shocked  No project is to big at Elite AquaticsWink

Could be wrong, but a fluidized media filter for biological filtration is my best guess.

Fluidized bed filters are a very unique biological filter. They have the ability to cultivate not only aerobic nitrifying bacteria, but also facultative anaerobic denitrifying bacteria. This means they may have the capability to remove not only ammonia and nitrite, but also nitrates.

I belive Bird World has a huge one for thier system. I made one but use it for bio pellets.
