Due to the fact that I have used a few kinds of wood to build my stand. I am thinking of painting it. I like all black stands but I dont know how well that would look in my living room. I was given suggestions of antique white. Not sure on that either. So basically I am looking for any ideas I can get. Thanks

Just my opinion, but I like simplicity.  Black would be dramatic, but don't you want people looking more at the drama in your tank?  Also black would make your living room look smaller.  Any off-white should work great.  Or a pastel, but you're a guy... so maybe not pastels.LOL

Pink... with purple polka dots! What types of wood did you use? If you used a combination of pine and oak, you might be able to offset contrasts with different pigments of stain if you want to get a natural wood look. Also, take into account the grain. It can look similar, but they are different.

As for painting, I really don't like black furniture. What color are your walls? Maybe you could do a light base with the trim a darker, more vibrant color. I think that you should blend the stand into the room as much as possible and let the tank itself pop if you don't have other natural wood furniture.

I have been watching way too much TLC. Please help me.

You could always add some trim and molding from Home Depot.....

I used a dark walnut stain in our basement. It made pine,
plywood, particle board and the beams in the ceiling look pretty
similar.....
