Recently I bought sun polyps and I hardly seen them opening. I even watched them in the night (without lights), but they still closed. Very rarely, one or two will half open (not fully). They doesn't look to be dead. But wonder if I need to train them to open in the day time, while feeding or what?

Any ideas to make them open would be appreciated.

Thanks!

Give them a little wiff of some good food, like Frozen Brine Shrimp.  Tease them with it just a little at a time.  Continue this every day until they finally start coming out.  My wife had to tease her's for over a week before they all opened for dinner.

It took mine a couple of weeks to all fully open.  I just feed my tank at the same time everyday.. a mixture of mysis, brine and  cyclopeeze.  After about 10-15 minutes the sun polyps will open up and eat.  They usually stay open for a few hours.  Let us know how it goes.

A good tip I got from the board is to cut the top of a 2 liter bottle off put if over the top of the sun polyps with the lid off and then squirt the food in with a baster. It keeps the food in the area longer and keeps fish/shrimp from taking it all away. My sun polyps seem to open when I put the cover over them sensing the food coming.
