Has anyone setup a bean animal drain on a 125 gallon reef ready tank?  It is a dual over flow non coner type setup.

It's been going ok.  I have stayed busy with work, but I finally think that we are on the down hill slope and slowing down.  So I am really getting the itch to set my 125.  But I have been out of the game for so long now I feel overwhelmed with how to get it setup Confused.  How have you been doing?

I am not sure if you could do the bean animal drain system on that tank and make it look good. You can do the Herbie style drain system on the tank though a long as all the holes are 1". You can drill the back of the tank for your return lines, or go over the top if you want as well.

Why do the holes need to be 1"?

1" is the minimum I would use for any drain.

I did a Bean Drain on my 120RR.  It has two 3/4" and two 1" drains.  I'm able to use a 850gph return pump on the one 3/4" drain and still have it dialed back.

I have a 120 Dual Overflow tank and used a modified version of the herbie.  Pulling 900 GPH through one of my 3/4" Same overflow is a 1" durso.  Other overflow 3/4" emergency drain and 1" closed loop input.  Two choices for the CL your loop needs to be less flow than the sump to avoid floods, or trim the overflow box to lower the "dam" that way your CL fills up before the sump overflow. 
 
If you don't want a CL use one 1" as the syphon, the other 1" as the durso and the 3/4's as emergency or return.  Just make sure that enough flow fills through the durso to avoid the second overflow as a deadspot.
 
My system works like a champ!
