I just bought an XM 400 Watt 10K

I installed it, and it makes a lot of noise my other bulb didn't.

I'm using a reef fanatic Electronic Ballast....

What's up?

Is it the bulb or the ballast, making the noise?

It was the bulb...

It went away after a minute or two. I guess I was just prematurely
panicking :)

It sounded like a plasma cutter.

still waiting to see some pics of your tank. So you decided to keep the 400 watt huh? What is your lighting going to be?

Yeah... I'm waiting for my new Metal stand, should be here any day...
Then I have to do a "re-teardown" and setup.

Can't take pics yet, I don't feel it's good enough to post

Lighting is 1 400 watt Light is suspended from ceiling. And I'm running
55 watt PC actinic supplements, but I'm going to be adding probably 4 T5
Actinic or Blue plus instead of the PCs.

I'm not fully sure I'm going to stick with the 400 but I thought I'd give it a
shot since I have it.

Of course now I have sooo many lights sitting around. 4 96 watt PCs (w/
Ballasts) 2 250 watt HQI housings and ballasts, with 4 bulbs... ech...

now I'm buying T5s...
