so......i have a little ich breaking out in my tank i have had it break out before and the garlic oil has  worked for the past year and a half .....til now i have been using garlic the past two weeks and my pinktail and kole tang are still showing signs i have read online that ginger powder or pulp works surprisingly well showing results in about 30 to 48 hours(this also could just be the life cycle of the parasite) anyway i am goin to try ginger for a couple days. Has anyone on here tried ginger before? if so, how did it go longterm? any feedback will be much appreciated Smile Im gonna give it a week or so if it doesnt work i will set up a hospital tank which i prolly shoulda done in the first placeConfused

Ginger will add a tangy flavor if you are planning to eat the dead fish. Disapprove
A newly set up hospital tank is not the best idea either. Want to know why?

Shocked Still using a Garlic product that has still not worked after dosing for two weeks? Here is a quote from the Instructions for Ich Treatment:

"If all the Ich does not leave the fish after 2 days,  immediately try another Garlic Oil product. Each aquarium, each situation response is slightly different (just as no one pain reliever works for all people)."

I will be happy to give you some of the best Garlic Oil to try for free. If it doesn't work, then a UV Sterilizer or Ozone is the best, next step to take. The discussions we've had about the steps to take are found in the topic here: http://utahreefs.com/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=9244

Quarantine tanks has worked EVERY time. If you can get the fish out. change the tank and water every 3 days. After a week GONE. Thank you Reef'd up. Need to break the cycle of the ich. Sand is the number one enemy the breeding ground.

2 cents good luck.
Always be leery of a fish farmer...wait or is it a pig farmer?
