I dont know if the starfish was attacked or is sick. The limbs are quickly deteriorating. I have heard that you can sometimes cut a limp off a starfish and it will grow.
Any sugestions or is the star doomed?

That happened to mine, and within 24 hours it was dead.

Eric, what could I have done?  (not to hijack the thread, I just want to know the answer to his question as well)

Two words: Scotch tape

Just kidding - I'd be interested in hearing how Eric and all the other king's men put your starfish back together again.

sorry about the bonehead comments ---

Interesting and ironic. My thorny red star met his grave in the same fashion last week

Maybe an infection?

Hikari has a new product, a wound gel, with some antibiotic
properties. After Eric does surgery, maybe you should put some
triple antibiotic gel on it (neosporin)....
