My DSB star is slowly loosing its legs, it still moves and doesn't crumble when you pick it up.
the legs just keep getting smaller. what is the deal with that??
Please help, I don't want to loose it.

In my experience that is because they do not like the water conditions.  My DSB star has grown a lot since I have had him.  Hope that helps.  Do not know if that is true just my experience with them and other stars.

Several things can be wrong.
1- it could be a bad starfish. Dying from mishandling at the collector. bad acclimation etc
2- low calcium and alkalinity. Check your levels and adjust accordingly.
3- lack of food. Starfish need lots of food. Try putting it on top of some krill, silver sides, or other tasty morsel. As they start to die it can start from the most outward reaches first.

I guess I am not familiar with the term DSB star (is that the same as a Sand Shifting or Sand Sifting Star?).  If so then I would guess that the star may be dying from the lack of food.
