Coral not opening but growing

So I have an encrusting gorgonian coral that has really open for a long time. It's been months since it has fully open, but however it still growing. It has expand from the rock to the sand bed and up to another rock nearby. So I'm wondering how can I get it to open back up how it used to before? All other corals seem fine and healthy
