I know there will be a great chat at the holiday social about items but unfortunately I will not be able to make that.

We just recently purchased our dream tank (an awesome 180g) and are awaiting it's delivery.  What I would like to do is get some opinions of some of the bigger equipment purchases.

Skimmer - We want something that will be either external or in sump (haven't decided but will have a sump) and is just a good skimmer (I have heard good things about the ASM G's and the Octopus).  Totally not against buying a used skimmer, curious if some hold up better then others.

Controller - My wife has been interested in one of these for a while, at Reef-A-Poolza we talked to the digital aquatics people about the reefkeeper series, I like what it can do and love the net setting but to be honest I haven't really reviewed it much or researched the Apex or other controllers.  Any opinions would be great.

RO/DI - We have needed one of these for a while and now will definitely have to get one.  Leaning toward to the one on Melev's reef site but would like to hear any opinions or reviews people have had on their RO units.

The rest of the tank we will be setting up slowly.

Thanks for your input.

Hands down I would get the Apex controller I will hopefully be getting one in December for my 210. I have a few friends that run the Apex on their 210s and they love them. I'm not sure on other controllers but if you have an iPhone you can literally monitor your tank from your phone with the Apex.

As far as skimmers I have a ASM love it works well and the octopus cone skimmers are awesome as well. Good luck with your purchases and hope you get what you want.

I like the Apex from my research it's one of the top controllers that people use and I have a few friends that have sold me on it's user friendly compatibility especially if you have an iphone. I will be getting a live camera with mine that way when I travel I can see the tank and monitor it as well. I'm sure there are other good controllers out there I just know and have researched on the Apex, and know I won't go wrong by purchasing one.
