 Topic: Vermetid Snails Everywhere! Help!

I have a big problem with vermetid snails all over my live rock. I know that some say that they are not a problem, but their webbing gets all over my tank and on my corals (and it seems to affect them). I have read other forums where people have complained of the same thing and how it has affected their coral. Furthermore, I just don't like the look of them in my tank. I have read a few ideas like using superglue on their openings, but I'm afraid they'll just keep coming back. Please let me know if anyone out their has had success in controlling these or knows of a way to. Is there a fish or invertebrate that would take care of them?
One more problem. I have hundreds of tiny (1/16"?) pure white snails that come out at night in my tank but disappear during the day. Are these dangerous to my coral? Thanks in advance.

Crystal beat me to it. That's exactly what I was going to say. Even if they are small ones, just smash them sideways and let a bug eating fish like goby a wrasse or even a blue damsel clean them up.
Are the snails round turban shaped? Do you have Margarita snails in the tank that may have spawned a month ago? If a lot of them stay on the glass, then they are eating algae.

Thanks for the input! I have smashed the vermetid snails before but the snails seem to suck back down into the base of it and then grow back. I have a hard time smashing some of the bases because my figi rock has a lot of small crevices that the snails grow into which are hard to get at. Even when I do smash them, they seem to come back quickly...I will keep trying, though.
Mark, I used to have margarita snails, but I think they all died off. It's hard to tell what shape their shells are because they are so tiny. I need to get a magnifying glass I guess. Why do they only come out at night? I can't see them at all during the day. Thanks again for the help.

A butterflyfish will probably eat the vermitid snails but will also eat coral polyps.
The snails are nocturnal, avoiding daytime predators.
I keep a magnifying glass next to my tanks. Another good tool is a jewelers loop. It makes it possible to take these kind of pics
Shrimp larvae found hiding in a pocillipora (Actual size ~1/2 inch)
Hydroid and Copepods (Hydroid actual size ~1mm)

I too have the little white snails/slugs. They are so small and I have only seen them on my glass so far. But I dont have nearly as many as you do. But I will be watching to see if you find anything good or bad about them.

What is the type of snail that is not good to have? they are a predatory snail.

Vipers look cool at a distant, but be careful of the bite..its a killer!
