Has anyone ever run there overflow pipe right into there skimmer so that all the water that leaves the tank first gets skimmed befor it goes into the sump?  Or do you have to have it go into a filter sock to catch all the large particals and leftover food before it goes into the skimmer. I have an ASM G2 skimmer that I thought I might run my return into. Let me know of any ideas or suggestions.

Unless your return is v  e   r   y  slow it will overpower your skimmer resulting in a flood or worse. You can split the line so as to feed some of the water into the skimmer. Check out Brads (tileman) thread on his "240g PIT" set up.
