I can find little information on the web on Archaster typicus or Astropecten polycanthus reproduction.  I have observed repeatedly over the past several weeks an almost constant "pseudocopulation" between two or even all three of my sand sifting stars.

One source on the internet said they reproduce asexually and sexually.  I just have not been able to find out much in real information in either my reference books- Julian Sprung, Invertebrates a quick reference guide, or Encylopedia of Marine Invertebrates.  What little infromation there is on the net is anecdotal and contradictory.

Can anyone point me to a good source for information on this?
