About a week ago. I was doing some maintenance in my tank. I must have knocked a dried salt fragment off the top of my lid. It was not until I put the lid back on that I noticed my anenome had a large quarter size salt flake in its mouth. Since then his tentacles have retracted and he does not look as lively as he did. Could he be sick? Is there anything I can do?

I do know that anemones are quite sensitive to water quality, especially salinity because they are compromised mostly of water. It seems like no matter how close I get my water change water to the same params as my tank water the anemone still seems to get mad every time I do a water change. I would say give it a day or two and see what he does. Mine usually come out of it after a day or so.

Let it all be... if you start figeting around with your anemone or adding chemicals... a lot more bad than good is sure to come..."patience, Danielson"...

Well, I would say that it's royally pissed or really . Either way, let it be and hope for the best. There's really squat that you can do to help without making things worse. Sorry, good luck!

Oh yeah...salt creep flakes dropped back into the tank are nasty if they land on a sessile invert. It burns them like crazy. Give the anemone time and it will recover.

Back in my newbie days I was told not to add the salt creep back into the tank...but I'm too lazy to have to throw it away, I just brush it in making sure large pieces don't land on a coral.
