Is it normal behavior for a Diamond Head Goby to disappear for weeks at a time? I have heard that in pairs, the female (when pregnant) will seclude herself in a burrow for over a month at a time, but I own only one of these fish, and I am not aware of its sex. It has been MIA for at least a month now, and I've wondered all along if it has died, but do not have any conclusive information.

Any input is appreciated.

I doubt the fish is in reproductive mode.  Very unusual.  If I remember correctly you recently moved your tank.  If you ask me, that is the culprit.  Your fish was stressed, and was dependent upon a nice sand bed.  Unfortunately when you moved the tank you had to disrupt the sand, no way around it.  I bet the fish is lost if it is MIA for a month now.

It is not uncommon that a goby will disappear for a long hiding under a rock an then just reappear, but I don't think this is the case.  It think you diamond goby has gone to that great fish tank in the sky.
