More evaporation in winter?

It seems as though I'm getting more evaporation on my tank over the last couple months that I did during the summer.. I have to top off my 72g with 1 to 1.5 gallons every day instead of the .5 to 1 I did in the summer months. Is this common?

I'd say it might have to do with how dry it has been here the past month. Also is your tank near a heater vent? That could cause it to evaporate more.

I've never noticed any difference in top off amounts for my tanks in the winter vs. summer though.

Ive noticed increased evaporation also... i'm finding that i need to open a window during the day to keep all the condensation off my windows. how many people use dehumidifiers?

Really!?
I would have guessed heater malfunction.
Water evaporation increases very quickly when the temperature rises.

On a side note, I've been pleasantly surprised that evaporation is almost zero here on the Big Island. No top-off necessary.
