Alright, I'm finally going to start on my new sump. It will fit under a 54
gallon corner, so the space is limited. The biggest thing that will fit is a
10 gallon tank (which I already had, as luck would have it). I will be using
an AquaC EV-120 for my skimmer, which can be used externally. This
will allow me to put the skimmer next to the sump and save valuable real
estate inside the sump.
My concern is that with a Mag 12 that I'm going to use for my return, I'm
afraid the flow will go so quickly through the sump that the current will
be too much for a refugium (if that even matters). It won't be as fast as
you're thinking because it's splitting to four different loc line returns, but
it'll probably still pump a lot of water.
I've always assumed the water would come in on one side of the sump, go
through some baffles and into the refugium, and then be pumped back
into the display.
Would something like this be better, or is it more complicated than it
needs to be? http://reefcentral.com/forums/sho wthread.php?

Is your drain from the tank going to keep up with a mag12 in a 10 gallon sump?
I would think it would be fine as long as you have a baffle infront of the return pump so the macro dosent get sucked into the pump intake like mine does.
