I am building a small cube tank sump.  Sump will be approx. 12x12 what layout will be the most efficient with the small space?  The Tank is an 18x18 cube.

12X12 is pretty small. What equipment do you have that needs to fit in there? Skimmer? Return pump? Reactors? Need a bit more info. Krazie

Probably just a small skimmer and return pump and a small reactor. I dont think the size will allow for an effective refugium. I had this cube plumbed into my main tank as a dispay refugium just changing direction and trying to make this into a stand alone system.

Is there any room outside the sump for the return or the reactors? Do you plan on a filter sock? What are the dimensions of the return pump?

Refugium in that small a sump would be pretty worthless.

Would you have enough head room above the sump for your small reactor?

There is room in the Cabinet for reactors to hang. I think I will just keep the sump open no baffles and use live rock and a filter sock to help with filtration and bubbles.

I think I would use one corner for a sock and two baffles for a bubble trap. The rest I would leave open for skimmer and maybe some rock.
