well last night after my halides turned off we had this wierd smell in the house. after looking all around i made it my ballast and that was it. it was super hot to the touch and smoking a little.. pretty sure its gone.. so anyone on here know where to find a new one or have a great deal, seeing how its the holiday and am very broke, on a 4 bulb t5 fixture?? i have one set of t5 in my canopy now to get by but i am afraid that wont be enough to keep my corals alive for to long..

thoughts??
getting fishy??

what wattage of bulbs?
How many bulbs running on one ballast?

There are numerous options, what brand do you have now?  Does it use a proprietary connector, or simply connected in to the fixture?

And if you are running MH with T5 I would imagine the lack of the T5 for a few days will not affect the corals much.
Was that in there yesterday? Casper--WY windier than ?

So your MH ballast went out?

Still many options, magnetic ballast can be relatively cheap (<$50 ea), and if you look around on ebay, and the for sale here you can probably get one relatively inexpensively and quickly.

Electronic ballast are a little more $$, as are name brand ballast.
