I am trying to conect 2 rubermaid containers together one for a sump and one for a refuge. I bought "bulkhead fittings" at Lowes in the electrical  section.  I tryed to find gaskets for them but there were none to be found and the people there were no help. I went home cut the holes and installed the bulkheads I added a silocone sealer let it dry and then put them together. Well for a day they were fine. Now they are leaking. The silocone must be to ridged. I am so frustrated Now I have to tear down the hole thing. Is there a good silocone I could use that would seal around these bulkheads. They are now seized to the containers. This sucks. Any ideas??

See the other post about bulkheads and using larger powerheads instead of massive iwaki type pumps.

My feeling about these soft plastic semi-rigid containers is that they were not meant to be drilled. And silicone doesn't stick to the plastic!

An alternative is to make a siphon from one to the other using large PVC pipe.

There is probably someone out there that has made these tubs work, so I'll shut up now and let them talk!

I was able to find some gaskets to make it work. No more leaks. No more frustration. Thanks to all who helped me out.

Bruce,

Thanks for your call. At which supplier did you find the gaskets? Did it take many calls to find them?

No they were at Lowes by the toilet gaskets.  I actual got the tip from Ryan. Thanks. Thanks for your help to Mark.  The only problem now is I think my sumo is just a little to small so I may get a larger one soon.
