Hey I have a 6 foot fixture with 6 pc lights and three mh. My problem is two t5 right next to each other stopped working and they are the only ones. Any ideas thanks
i would open her up (yes, usually a pain in the BUTT) and swap the connectors from the working T5's (if you have a set?) and see if they light up - this will indicate to you whether the bulbs went bad coincidentally - most likely not (usually the ends of the tubes will get dark also - which indicates they're blown)
then check all of the wire connections where they plug into the ballasts (long white boxes usually) and make sure salt didn't get to them.
if all is still good at that point, the ballast is probably dead. which can be purchased and replaced. if you want to buy a generic replacement instead of the brand-name, just be careful and make sure it will fit.
i've never messed w/ the starters, but those are cheap - might be worth looking into.
those are basically all of the parts i can think of. power outlet-> power cord-> switch-> ballasts->lights
55 gallons of impulsive additions and subtractions.
Did you get this fixed ? Also is it Pc or T-5 lights ? Are the ballast for which either you have next to the halides ? Heat is a killer on ballasts that is why many run remote ballasts away from the heat generated from the Halides . Just a thought to extend the life of your investment.
