Also check the treads that are linked in the Reefkeeping Tips. I believe I linked 3 very good threads showing many options and discussing what major techniques worked best. It isn't as complicated as moving the tank 2000 miles, but it can be almost as stressful.
You are already on the right track, by saving it for last. Also realize that for a trip as short as this, tubs filled 1/2-2/3 full of water are great for submerged transport of LR and coral. Sand transport depends on the age of the tank and amount of crud in the sand. It was discussed just a few days ago here:
