Hey,
SO I have a 16 Gallon Bowfront that I have always had a few mushrooms in and they do fine, but I am at the point that I want to start expanding to a more complete reef. I am hung up on lighting though. I really dont know what the best type is or anything regarding lighting. I could really use some suggestions.

I would say opposite. T5HO are best.

I would go with a single Par38 led bulb for that tank. I'm a firm believer in T5HO's for anything much bigger.

What are the dimensions? If there is a t5 that would fit it go with that. If not I would also go with a par 38 led bulb.

That fixture would be good. It has two ballasts so you can have two at a time on if you wanted.plus it has moon lights which are awesome.

I know this really shows my inexperience but what limitations do you think I would have in terms of the corals I could introduce.

I have the same light but just in the 48in version and it does great with my softies and Lps and anemone. I can't say anything about SpS because they die but I think is because of lack of nutrients. I would recommend it. If you have questions about this light ask me

You'd be able to grow anything so long as you're water is good.

Check out Rapid led.com. I have bought from them twice and am pleased every time. I watch over someone elses tank for them and I have helped them upgrade to it, using the website.

+1 here. I've bought two retrofit kits that have been great.

Just poking around and was wondering if anyone has tried these or think this combination would work, or if it just looks to "fishy"

I didn't read through all the above posts, so it may have been said, but I think if nothing else this can show you that there are many ways to a successful reef, especially with lighting.   LED (my favorite), t5, mh are all great choices, each with pro's and con's.   You can even grow some decent corals with pc lights.
