Some of you know I have a 400 gallon tank on the way.

I initially wanted to do a Reef Octopus 8000INT.  I know that most people generally get a bigger skimmer than what their actual tank size is.

I really like that skimmer, but I will not be able to put it in because of how tall it is. I don't want to make my stand higher because I'm already going 32 inches high on the tank.  It was suggested to me to just do the 5000INT, rated for 400 gallons.

I will be doing a very heavy bio-load with fish and corals over time.  Do you guys think I will be fine with this skimmer (The 5000INT) or should I start looking at another one?

The 5000INT is cheap. It's only $600.  I really can't spend more than $1,000 on a skimmer.  I've already gone $7,000 over my budget on this tank.  Not sure how I'm going to explain it to the wife, but I'm going to ask for forgiveness rather than ask for permission. haha

Is there any reason a guy couldn't run two or three skimmers?

You would be fine with the sro5000 or even get the sro6000 one of the best skimmers for the money

Thinking about this, I don't think I can go external.  I just got off the phone with Reef Otopus and they recommended to me the Diablo DCS 300INT.  They said it's rated for 400 gallon heavy bio, 500 medium and 600 gallon light bio.

I was just looking at it sounds like a pretty good skimmer and I think it would be plenty big enough I would suggest getting a self cleaning head for it as well

I run Reef Octopuss 3000s on a system with a total volume of about 100g . I do love it but only thing I wish I had bought was a recirculating skimmer. The auto cleaning head would be nice also. BRS has a video about skimmers , sizing, recirculating vs non recirculating  etc might be worth watching.
