I'm headed out of town for 9 days in a few weeks. Last time I had a neighbor come by each day and feed and top off the water. He didn't get enough top off water in and the return was running dry by the end of the week. I'd like to take that variable out for him this time.. I was thinking of picking up the JBJ autotopoff controller and a big 20g container.

Anyone have experiences with it?

I don't know about the JBJ because I use the tunze osmolator and it's one of the best equipment I've bought for my tank. Precisely accurate and have not failed me yet.

I got the jbj since it was the cheapest when I was looking around and I haven't had any issues with it.  I'm glad I only went a couple weeks with the tank before setting it up.

I have the Tunze Osmolator also. It's been a year with absolutely no issues. Best thing I have ever bought as fast as automation. I also have the Elos ATO as a backup. I bought it from another member who was taking his tank down after only using it for a month. It works great and would be willing to with it if you are interested. Shot me a PM.

I have had the JBJ ATO for almost 9 months now and it works great, just pair it with a Maxi-Jet and your good to go.

I run the  Tunze Osmolator on my red sea max 250 and on my breeder setup, it works flawlessly and is by far my favorite piece of equipment on my tanks. I did a lot of research when i was deciding which way to go for ATO and i am super happy with my decision. You will pay a bit more for the Tunze Osmolator but it is well worth the money, you get what you pay for and with an ATO reliability is key!

I use the jbj as well. Ive had it over a year and only a few issues. The level float got stuck once, but because the jbj will only let the pump run 2 min max it was ok. no other issues since!

I built my own with dual electric floats from grainger and a maxi 400 , never had an issue in 9 months , total cost was about $60 with the pump +another $10 for the rubbermaid. If you decide to go this way let me know and I will show how I did mine.
