Topic: Power outage might need generator! Posted: June 18 2012 at 7:15pm |
Just got home with the power out. Has been off for an hour. I have a small amount of juice in an ups but not much.
Two questions.
How long before its a major issue
Two, anyone have a generator I can borrow if it goes long.

Get a big cup and mix the water every hour. Scoop it up and dump it back in. It will keep your O2 levels up.=)

| Doing it. The ups lasted all of ten minutes running the power heads.

The two things to worry about with a power outage is temp and keeping the water oxygenated. Luckely its not to hot or cold outside so temp shouldn't be a issue. As far as keeping the water oxygenated I keep battery operated airstones and extra batteries just in case. Before I had those I would take a egg beater and mix up the water really good every half hour or so and that would be enough to keep everything alive.

The 2000w inverter I installed in my jeep years ago saved my old tank during a 48 hour blackout, ran the entire tank setup lights and all, as well as several appliances.
