New lights slow to fire.

I just finished my upgrade from 175 MH to 250 MH changed to electronic ballast.  They seem slow to fire.  Like sometimes a few minutes after I plug them in.  Tried just going strait to an outlet one at a time and still slow so I don't think its a current problem.

Are electronic ballast just slow or do I have some other problem.

old bulbs sometimes take longer to fire up as well? is the 250w new to you or brand new?

the are brand new bulbs they are xm 10ks

I see this all day long at work. It is almost always the ballast and not the bulb. I would not worry about it like the others have said. If it bugs you that bad then try a different ballast. I also doubt that it is a power flux. I bet you have 120 volts at the source. When lights are having issues and you know that the source power is good and the bulb is good it is almost 100% of the time the ballast.

Ryan, check the source voltage and make sure the ballast is getting 110 to 120 volts then check all wiring. Make sure there are no bair wires from the plug to the ballast and the ballast to the socket where the bulb plugs in then check the voltage at the socket. If there is no voltage then the ballast is bad or the wiring is bad. The voltage from the ballast to the socket is considerably lower than 120v so i you get like 13 to 50 volts that is fine. If you get no voltage then check the wiring that comes from the ballast to the socket especially where the wire goes into the socket. If that checks out then it is most definately the ballast. Also, if you are getting 120v or more from the ballast to the socket then the ballast needs to be replaced. Good luck man.
