Hey guys I have a 120 aga that has a lot of coral, fish ect... I really want to put in an overflow.  right now I have a hang on the back overflow box that I hate!!!  Is there anyone who has drilled a tank that is up and running that can help me out, or am I just stuck with the hang on the back?

I have drilled a tank with it up and running but I did drain it down about half way for an hour or so while I drilled it. It is kind of scary, I am not sure I would want to on a 120, mine was just a 36 gallon bow front lol

I've drilled about a dozen tanks of all sizes, but I don't feel comfortable drilling a filled tank.  There is no way to keep a well of water to cool the bit nor do I want the slurry of polished glass going into an existing tank.

with the help of fishoutofwater we drilled my red sea max while it was up and running I just sat there with a spray bottle and constantly sprayed the bit while he was drilling it worked perfectly

I think it also depends on what type of overflow you pan t install. a C2C overflow would be an easy fix.

What kind of problems have you had with the present overflow? What does it look like? Can you post a pic? There are ways to make external overflows bullet proof.Smile
