Topic: !!! Is this the dreaded majano? Posted: July 07 2010 at 9:28pm |
Just noticed this little guy in my tank. Is this the dreaded majano anemone? It's smaller than a dime.

Looks like a bubble tip but if you did not put in then yes is a majano pull it out. dont want to risk it and get out of control. could be aiptasia then pulling it out could make it worse if you slightly touch and retracts then aiptasia. mostly like its a majano

Get it out asap, it looks like it's on a small rock, if so I would just pull the rock.

Luckily it is (was) on a small rock in my substrate with nothing else on it. Said rock is now in the garbage. I've scoured the tank and haven't seen any signs of any others, so here's hoping that was the only one.

Yes, that was indeed a majano. I think you did the right thing by just throwing it away. It isn't worth the risk with a small rock. Good move.

They can over take a tank and end up killing your corals.

thank you. So if you have a FOWLR they really wouldn't be a big deal.

Most Butterflys will eat them up. Green file fish will devour them. Theres ways to get rid of a tank full.

No new ones in sight. Crossing my fingers (forever now, I guess). My tank's only been going for about 18 months now, but I've been remarkably lucky not to get pests (which is a good thing considering all the other problems I've had).
