    Posted: September 09 2004 at 9:30pm

You've probably all seen my post several times, but I'm putting together a slideshow to run on my PC during the reeftour.  I've asked club members  for pics and gotten a pretty good response.  I currently have about 150 pics, but around 60 of them are of my tanks.

Anyway, I'm totally getting a kick out of this.  What do the presidency and the members think about an official WMAS Slideshow.  If it was a club thing we'd probably get much more response.  (I'd hope.)  I was thinking I could then write it to CD and distribute it to members, (or anyone else who wants it,) for a small donation to the club.  Something like $5.  We could give several away as door prizes as well.  I just bought some software that does a really professional job on slideshows and would love to head this up.

This wouldn't be for the reef tour, but just as something cool.  It would give everyone some really great pictures of many members tanks to show off to friends or use as a screensaver.

 or ?

Didn't think of this before, but how about a Reef Tour slide show.  Just pics from people who are on the Reef Tour.  I think you could sell some of those as people would be interested in buying a CD with pics of tanks they saw.

Adam

Come to a meeting, they’re fun!

I'd thought of that too, but don't know if I can gather pics from everyone.  I certainly don't have time to go take pics of all those tanks between now and the tour.  Maybe with the cooperation of everyone on the tour and a little extra help getting the pics from those who aren't on the net or don't have camera's we could pull it off.

Hey that sounds great guys.  Since those of us on the tour won't be able to go see all the tanks we could still enjoy it expos facto.

Richard L. - HEY!!!  I need pics from you and Jared.  Your's is a tank that should definately be a part of this.

Bugzme, I'm fully planning on that too.

Sky, the program I settled on is Proshow.  It allowed the most options of any I could find.  I tried 3 or 4 before I settled on one.  This one seemed the most powerful.

Been preoccupied for a while- scout camp, anniversaries, etc.  You know. We got tons of pics.  What are you looking for?  Call Jared (571-4121) and ask him.  He could probably load them on our website and you could download or link from there.

Update:  I've got all the pics I'm going to be able to get before the Reef Tour.  It's not bad though.  I have almost 200 pics.  at 5 seconds per slide it runs over 14 minutes.  I really wanted to try to get this to others before the tour, but due to a short fishing trip and a couple of emergencies I won't be able to deliver these.  HOWEVER, anyone who wants a copy is welcome to come get one.  It is a very big file (almost 200 MB) so the only way I can transfer it is to write a CD.

If you would like to come get a copy of this slideshow I will be home most of Tuesday evening and all of Thursday getting ready for the tour.  Call me at 913-5634 or 957-0792 if you would like to come get a copy.  I will also have copies to hand out to anyone who comes on the tour.

I will hopefully be making a slideshow of all the tanks on the tour so anyone who takes pics please either E-mail me a copy of them or get me a CD of them or let me know and I'll come get them.  Thanks for the support I've received so far.

I'm so glad this got off the ground!  Thanks so much for your hard work, Will!  I won't be able to come & get a copy from you before the RTour, but I'd love to get a copy the next time I see you.  Maybe at a meeting?  Or I could get really greedy & get a copy after you've added a few RT shots?  You should sell this.

Renee, I will be bringing some to the next meeting as well.  You are first on the list for one.

Also if the presidency thinks it is a good idea I would like to do one after the tour that shows the tour tanks and any other tanks from club members and sell them for a $5 donation to the club.  If you think about it could you bring this up to the presidency at the next presidency meeting?

Could it be made into a scrolling screen saver somehow?

I should have plenty for everyone who wants one.  I may have to charge $1 to pay for the CD's though.

Jake, I'm not sure what you mean by scrolling, but I can easily make a screen saver of it.  I'll do that as well.  Probably both will fit on one CD.

I would love a screen saver. When could I pick one up? I don't know what it's called but a screen saver that changes to a different pic. every few seconds.

Just save the file in your computer, go into settings /your control panel in start. Then go to display, settings, brouse... there it is. the fish file.
I will just give my warning that your system will flood, bulbs will burn out, and things will take continuous maintenance... get over it.
